Day 97/2

This morning I had about 20 minutes just pottering in the kitchen, while J slept and Warren caught up on email. Our narcissi were past it, time for the chop and, as they piled up post-cutting, I thought how dry and beautiful they were. I picked up my camera and actually got the shots I wanted! Lovely time and a much better day.

Day 96/2

My boy! And my favourite photo of the day ... although, it's hard to choose between this and the one of his Thunderbird impression! This was taken when we had just got back from a little walk at Blaise; well, I say little, but it's the furthest I've managed so far - hurrah! Look at him - yummy and scrummy and two weeks old today.

Day 95/2

So, I'm pretty much CONSTANTLY hungry. Is that because I'm post-surgery? Is it simply recovery time? Is it to fuel me as I look after a newborn? I don't really care, just let me eat!

Day 94/2

Today we went for a walk around the marina and (naturally?!) found ourselves at The Windmill for some food. J lay on my lap, covered by his father with a napkin, as he slept and we ate.

Day 93/2

A perfect hand captured during a moment of calm on the changing mat.

Day 92/2

I've been wearing my glasses more (because I've been showering later), but J doesn't see me in them for most of the day, so I take them off when I'm with him. This, of course, means that they spend a lot of time lying on the table. Then, my sunglasses joined them

Day 91/2

Sorry, no photo today...

Day 90/2

Homemade defrosted Thai green curry ... Saves washing up to use the tupperware it was frozen in!

Day 89/2

Getting out and about a little more today... J's first trip to Asda (exciting times!) and his first ride in a trolley.

Day 88/2

Warren's mum brought us some beautiful roses when she came to visit today.

Day 87/2

It's an interesting thing that something so normal, so lovely even, can have a touch of the bitter sweet about it. Today we went for a walk at Blaise and had a drink at the cafe; a lovely moment sharing our first walk together (even if I am slower than when pregnant!). Warren's coffee, my juice and J's bottle; what family now looks like. Tears are pricking my eyes a little as I see that bottle, however; it's not how I wanted feeding to be. My heart is broken by quite a lot of how this week has gone. I'm thankful that this is a journey, so I get time to heal while falling in love with my son.

Day 86/2

Let the cousins meet! Z and A came to meet J this afternoon ... So much scrumptiousness!

Day 85/2

Nappy changing isn't J's favourite activity; maybe daddy's finger will help?

Day 84/2

Holding J's identity bracelet while still wearing mine on my bruised, recently cannula-removed hand. But home... So delighted, thankful, relieved, overwhelmed to be home.

Day 83/2

Delivered by c-section at 8.43 this morning, J was born! Making his mummy and daddy very happy indeed!

Day 82/2

No photo today as I waited for the induction to get going, which it did this afternoon.

Day 81/2

Having been diagnosed with pre-eclampsia, we were strongly advised to be induced. So, here's the view from where I lie, waiting for the induction to kick in...

Day 80/2

Trying to enjoy a hot chocolate together between midwife visits... Awaiting test results and the verdict - am I going into hospital or not?

Day 79/2

Just crafting some black and white things to investigate - there's a newborn on the way...

Day 78/2

I saw the midwife today, armed with my yellow book, our national symbol of maternity care.

Day 77/2

My beloved just got back from a morning spent at our allotment with a little something for me. There were vegetables and mud, but also a little purchased something. White chocolate eggs! Note that I'm being a good sharer - half each!

Day 76/2

Today's post is an ode to my wonderful nephew, the lender of the grabber, the hero of this last pregnancy stage and, without whom, I would be stuck! (After I took this photo, I dropped my lens cap, but there was the grabber - hurrah!)

Day 75/2

An ode to my trusty Crocs, the only shoes I can get on these days ... Any day now!

Day 73/2

It's time to get stuck back into the West Wing, picking up where we left off - at the beginning of Series 2.

Day 72/2

Happy Purim!! It's the celebration of the deliverance described in the book of Esther and it's traditional to read the story, so here we are at the beginning...

Day 71/2

Oh my goodness, a photo taken outside! Just back from Blaise, the flat bit by the main car park, rather than our hilly bit.

Day 70/2

The view from where I sit on my bed. Too big, too tired.
