a sewing day
Well, I like to think of it as a sewing day but maybe 'sewing prep' would be a more accurate description? You see, in these days of digital (apparent) helpfulness, patterns are downloaded, as you can see...
Then they are pieced together...Then taped together...
Then traced...
Then the fabric can be cut out...
Then - finally! - you get somewhere near the sewing machine!
Some lovely stitching takes place...
Then methinks it's time for a cuppa!

Day 311
My fabric drawer is slightly over-flowing, here's what's left from my Christmas making. How sweet are those elephants?!

Day 298
I went fabric shopping this morning and was very surprised a) not to have to fight my way through other fabric-shoppers (so near to Christmas) and b) to find fabrics I liked. I mentioned how quiet it was and the shop assistant agreed, saying "It's too close to Christmas; people know there's not enough time to make things." Hmm, everyone except me, that is!!

Day 270
Some more nativity prep ... scrappy, doodle plans, pebbles and a fabric star. Don't worry - the glue will dry clear!

Day 169
I can't quite believe it ... I went fabric shopping today and found what I was looking for first time round, first fabric shop!

Day 135
After yesterday's entirely fruitless attempt at fabric shopping, today was a lot more successful. The pieces are all prepped and ready for the final stages of stitching together.

Day 79
Having shown you this funky hearts fabric the other day, I started thinking about what I could do with it. Obviously, bunting! I had a fab idea for how to do it and this morning I pulled it out to start cutting. Thankfully, I remembered in time that, as it's directional, I'd waste half of it if I made bunting (because half the flags would feature upside-down hearts). But, I thought, a cushion! And here it is.

Day 16
It's been a few hours of pattern piece copying in preparation for the pattern piece cutting, in preparation for the sewing together. Obviously, I stopped to take some photos along the way. Here's some seriously fab safety pin fabric.
